Who is Light the Way? And What Do They Do?

Light the Way is a local non-profit organization that walks out the meaning of being the hands and feet of Jesus in so many ways. It all started with the Asbury Revival. A friend of mine, Leena, said she was so in awe of it and hoped something like that would happen in Northwest Indiana and then God said to her, "you're going to be the one to do it." She was stunned and scared but said, "Here I am, Lord, send me!"

So, in the summer of 2023 she threw an event bringing together numerous churches, non-profit organizations and live worship music from local church bands. Over 800 people showed up to the event and worshipped the Lord as a community. She kept that momentum going and had another event in October of 2023 and tomorrow will be the 3rd event of 2024.

But like a 90's 2AM infomercial... WAIT! THERE'S MORE! She became part of the Make a Wish foundation, putting together a super band of Uber talented local Christian musicians and started a ministry of taking worship to people who can't get out to church.

I was blessed to go to the first unofficial portable worship session. A woman who was bedridden with Lyme Disease was in need of some TLC from the Lord. So, me, Leena and some of our musical friends went to her bedroom, piano and guitar in hand, and sang worship songs praising Jesus. It was powerful and beautiful and just what this sweet child of God needed.

They recently started bringing live worship to a nursing home. They plan to visit hospices and prisons as well.

Through these events I have met so many inspiring people. People who serve the homeless such as the Good Grace Project and the Rooted in Christ Motorcycle Club who also minister to the homeless. Healing and Human Connection who provide support to people with family members lost to addiction. Those are just a few off the top off my head. All these organizations making connections so they can do the work of Jesus in their communities.

I met Leena through this and am blessed to call her a good friend of mine now. Her faith inspires me on so many levels. My husband and I wanted to partner with her and her husband in some way, so we started making and donating the volunteer shirts. Kingdom Threads by Amy also became the apparel vendor for the worship events. We donate all the proceeds from the event right back to them and all the proceeds from the sales of my site and Etsy store for the following week.

If you, like me, feel inspired by Light the Way, you can support them by purchasing some Jesus merch in person tomorrow or online over the next week (Oct. 5-11, 2024). All proceeds fund their mission. So, get some merch and support the cause!
