Veterans Day Prayer

A Prayer for Veterans Day - Romans 13:7

Freedom is not cheap. The servicemen of our nation have paid the price of it for us all. They have sacrificed their own freedoms in many ways to serve our nation. They and their families sacrifice time and memories that could have been spent with their loved ones. They sacrificed their safety, mental health and so much more. I don't pretend to even understand the true suffering that they have endured on our behalf. They followed the footprints of Jesus in sacrificing themselves for the greater good.

Romans 13:7 says, "Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed."

Because Jesus was a pacifist some think war is unbiblical, but the Bible does call for war under certain circumstances. These circumstances for justified wars include preventative war or as a response to lasting damage inflicted by an aggressor. The motive should be to advance good over evil. The objective should be to bring peace in the end. The Lord has blessed their objectives.

Because of these great men and women, we are able to live in a nation of liberty! We are free to be Christian openly and publicly which is a freedom that many do not have in this world. Join me in a moment of prayer for them:

Lord, thank you for these brave souls that paved the way for us to be a nation of freedom and safety. Our government often falls short of giving them the revenue and honor they deserve; we pray to see a change in this. We pray over all veterans today for safety, for wellness and for a faith that brings them life. Bless them and protect them. We pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
