Seasons Series - Ecclesiastes 3:1

I am a fall and winter girl! It FINALLY stopped being hot and I am so pumped for hoodies and pumpkin spice everything so let’s talk about seasons. The Bible acknowledges the natural seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—as part of God’s creation. They affirm predictability and purpose in the changing cycles of life.

The bible also uses seasons metaphorically. It talks about seedtime and harvest which represent cycles of preparation and reward. It talks about day and night which represent clarity and productivity, while night symbolizes rest and refection. Winter, a time of dormancy that teaches patience and trust. Spring brings renewal and growth.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This acknowledges that life unfolds in distinct phases—times of joy, sorrow, growth, and rest. Each season has its purpose. It emphasizes divine order.

Every purpose, whether joyful or challenging, serves a higher plan season has a purpose in God’s grand plan. Ecclesiastes 3:1 invites us to embrace life’s seasons, recognizing that they contribute to our spiritual growth and understanding. Lord, as we enter the fall and winter seasons may we see them as a time to rest and be renewed. May we embrace all seasons of life knowing that even in difficult seasons you have a higher purpose and will be faithful to bring us through it. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
