Seasons - Isaiah 55:10-11

Let's continue our series on Seasons. Today we are looking at Isaiah 55:10-11 which says, "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth".

This passage beautifully illustrates the power and purpose of God’s word, comparing it to the life-giving rain and snow that nourish the earth. Just as precipitation nourishes the earth, causing it to produce seeds and food, God’s word accomplishes His intentions and brings about the desired outcomes.

Rain and snow are natural processes that ensure the earth is fertile and productive. God's word is also powerful and life giving! It ensures spiritual growth and fulfillment.

Rain and snow do not return to the sky without watering the earth. Similarly, God's word does not return void. It will never return empty but instead achieves the purpose God has for it. God's word has a specific and divine purpose. It is reliable and trustworthy.

Lord, today we thank you for the power and reliability of your word that nourishes us and gives life. May we determine to spend time in it every single day and cherish it for the valuable gift that it is. Amen.
