How to On Holiness - Hebrews 12:14 Bible Study with Reflection Questions and Prayer

     In 2025 we are pursuing holiness. Let's discuss Hebrews 12:14 which says, "Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man shall see God." 
     The word used for "peace" is the Greek word "eirēnē" which has a few meanings: the absence of conflict; the presence of God's favor and blessing; the inner peace that comes from being in a right relationship with God through Christ. In this context it means to walk rightly with men by pursuing peace with them and also to walk rightly with God by pursuing holiness. 
     The word for "holiness" in this verse is a Greek word "hagiasmos". This word means to be set apart for God's purposes. It involves sanctification which is the transformation and purification of a believer's life through the work of the Holy Spirit so that one may live a life that reflects God's character and righteousness. The beautiful part of this is that the Holy Spirit does the heavy lifting for us! 
      When this verse says, "without which no man shall see the Lord" its saying that a lack of holiness is a critical obstacle to a close relationship with God. 
      The whole of Hebrews 12 is an encouragement to believers to persevere in their faith, highlighting the importance of discipline, endurance and holiness in the Christian life. May you be encouraged by this and determine to tackle some of the sins and habits that keep you from holiness.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, May our actions and words bring harmony and reflect Your love to those around us. Grant us the strength to resist temptation and to live in accordance with Your will. Fill us with Your Spirit and transform our hearts, so we may become more like Jesus every day. Amen.
