Full Armor of God Bible Study Series - Belt of Truth - Ephesians 6:14
Share
Our new series is about putting on the 'full armor of God.' It is found in Ephesians 6:10-18.
Ephesians 6:10-18:
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.
The full armor of God is a biblical metaphor encouraging Christians to stand firm against spiritual challenges. In this series we will learn about the following 6 pieces of armor: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit. For each piece of armor, we will study a few other verses that will help us to understand the meaning.
The belt of Truth: Staying grounded in God's truth. This means we live honestly, with integrity and by the truth of God's Word. We must stay grounded in truth and resist defeat. Truth holds us together and provides a foundation for righteousness and faith. We are called to live authentically being steadfast and grounded in our Christian beliefs. It is the core that keeps everything else in place. Tune in tomorrow so we can talk about John 3:21.
John 3:21 says, "But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
Lord, may we live faithfully by your truth. Let us stay strong in studying and living out your Word, remembering that you are truth, and you hold us and all things together. Amen.
